Little Yarn Friends 3rd Crochet-Along:
It is that time of the year again for our annual Crochet-Along (CAL) Contest! The teddy bears had enough limelight for the past 2 seasons. So this year, we’ve decided to give this privilege to someone that is less appreciated by many. You’ve guessed it right, we are talking about BUGS! The idea of having an insect for our CAL project is indeed interesting and fresh. I’m not sure how many of you will like this idea, but hopefully this Lil’ Ladybug will change your perception of bugs and they too can look adorable. :)
How Do I Participate?
- Crochet Lil’ Ladybug. (you are allowed to modify your Ladybug. e.g. different colour, different facial expression etc.)
- Snap pretty pictures of your Lil’ Ladybug.
- Choose the best picture and e-mail it to email@example.com with your full name and Title: Little Yarn Friends CAL 2014. ONLY picture(s) submitted via e-mail will be considered. (you can submit as many entries as you wish)

- This contest is open world-wide.

Our 1st Stop Motion Video!
Enjoy watching our simple and light-hearted stop motion clip of baby Singa the Lion wishing Mr Lee a blessed birthday. Do pardon him for his clumsiness.
"To one of our greatest leader in Singapore who’ve dedicated many years of his life in building up this country from scratch and brought it to where it is today. HAPPY 91st BIRTHDAY TO YOU MR LEE! Thank you for breaking new boundaries for Singapore, believing and giving hope to a tiny country. Through your leadership, we’ve transformed from an unrecognised small dot to a world-class developed country today! You are truly a great father figure to our country and your fighting spirit is something that all of us can learn from."
Thank you @catherineleck for initiating this awesome #happybirthdayLKY movement. I am so blessed to be living in a safe, clean and prosperous country and to call SG my home.

Crochet Gif Tutorials: Crocheting into the Chain
If the first row of stitches after the chain are going to be single crochet stitches (sc’s), you’ll need to crochet one extra chain. If they are going to be double crochet stitches (dc’s), you’ll need two extra, because dc’s are taller and you’ll need more space. Treble crochet stitches (trc’s) require three, etc. A pattern will always tell you what to do!
For a more detailed explanation of the single crochet (sc) stitch used in this example, please see the tutorial here.
